Pop School 2

Build on Pop School 1 by learning popular accompaniment styles that help students turn chord progressions into expressive, real-sounding music.

Pop School 2 builds on the chord vocabulary introduced in Pop School 1 by teaching students how to use chord progressions in a range of real-world accompaniment styles. Each piece focuses on a specific pattern, groove, or texture — then applies it immediately in music that feels authentic and satisfying to play.

This book works beautifully alongside any “traditional” piano method, or as a standalone continuation for students who want to sound more stylistic and confident while keeping harmony at the centre. The writing is flexible by design — keep the textures light for developing players, or extend the patterns into richer voicings and fuller accompaniments as fluency grows.

For teachers who also like to teach chord function, Roman numeral and Nashville Number System resources are available online to support relative thinking and transposition.

Note: Supersonics uses both US and UK terminology where helpful (for example: steps and half steps / tones and semitones).
