Supersonics Piano Method Level 3
A flexible, exploratory piano method that expands students’ musical options through new keys, styles, rhythms, and creative work.
Supersonics Piano Method Level 3 is designed to help students explore the many musical possibilities that open up at this stage of learning. Building on the note-reading range, confidence, and technique developed in Level 2, Level 3 becomes a launching point for discovering new types of music — and using those experiences as jumping-off points for further exploration.
Across the level, students explore C major, A minor, F major, D minor, G major, E minor, and D major, plus pentatonic blues and swing, and the chromatic scale. They also build rhythmic fluency by introducing semiquavers (sixteenth notes), revising familiar time signatures, and adding a range of new ones.
Level 3 also introduces modes — including Dorian, Phrygian, Lydian, Mixolydian, Aeolian, and Phrygian dominant — supported by creative activities that help students hear and understand how these sounds work in practice. Chord work continues throughout the level, and units typically begin with a simple exercise or easier piece before moving into the main repertoire and concluding with chord-based or creative work.
Students do not need to complete every unit in order. However, learners who explore the full range of material will develop a particularly well-rounded foundation at this level, where there is “a lot to explore” both technically and musically.
