Supersonics Piano Method Level 2

A fun, structured piano method for beginner students that builds confident reading, strong technique, and real musicality from the very first lesson.

Supersonics Piano Method Level 2 continues the learning journey with a broader musical palette, increased technical demands, and a steadily expanding reading range. The focus remains firmly on making music — developing confident, expressive players through repertoire rather than isolated exercises.

Across the level, students gradually extend their reading range using landmark notes (including the five Cs), without becoming locked into fixed hand positions. Leaps, movement across the keyboard, and coordinated two-hand textures are introduced naturally through engaging pieces, pop-style chord work, canons, folk tunes, and carefully selected classical repertoire.

Rhythmic vocabulary expands to include more complex patterns and unusual time signatures, while students refine their musical ear through transposition, harmonic awareness, and creative “continue the piece” tasks that encourage exploration and ownership of sound.

By the end of Level 2, students are playing expressively across music from multiple eras and styles, with growing confidence, flexibility, and musical curiosity.

The Learning Journey (Module by Module)

Level 2 is organised into 10 modules, each sequenced around a clear musical goal. While the structure is deliberate, students experience the learning through repertoire and activities rather than abstract explanation — concepts are woven into the music so progress feels natural and musical.

Reading range expands steadily, technique is strengthened through varied coordination challenges, and creativity is built through transposition and composition-style tasks. Chord pieces appear throughout the level to develop harmonic awareness and keep motivation high.

Module 1 — Consolidation and musical control

Students consolidate technique and musical habits from the previous level while stepping into richer, more engaging repertoire.

Module 2 — Dotted rhythms

Dotted rhythms are reinforced through repeated musical contexts, supporting steadiness, accuracy, and confident internal pulse.

Module 3 — More challenging coordination

Hands-together coordination becomes more demanding, developing independence, balance, and control between the hands.

Module 4 — Speed and fluency

Students build confidence with quicker patterns and more fluent playing, without sacrificing relaxed movement or clarity.

Module 5 — The C major scale

The C major scale is introduced in a practical way, supporting travel up and down the keyboard and improved spatial awareness.

Module 6 — Coordination and independence

Another coordination-focused module strengthens reliability in rhythm, balance, and hand independence through motivating pieces.

Module 7 — Expressive playing in the upper register

Students explore more lyrical, expressive sounds higher on the keyboard, building tone control and musical shaping.

Module 8 — Landmark notes and a greatly expanded range

This major module expands reading using the five Cs (and supporting landmarks), enabling confident leaps and a much wider reading range.

Module 9 — F major

Students explore F major through repertoire, patterns, and creative reinforcement, strengthening key-awareness and hand shaping.

Module 10 — D minor

The level concludes with D minor, consolidating musical control, tonal awareness, and expressive playing across a wider range.
